If you wrap your support thumb over the top of the hand guard this grip gives you more control then a bare one. I noticed that the weapon is easier to drive from target to target and better works with your bone structure. an added bonus is that it gives your weapon a slimmer profile then a regular pistol grip. The AFG also allows you to mount the grip farther forward then a conventional one.
